“NO GROANS NOW.”
REJOINS REGIMENT. EX-MINISTER’S NEW JOB. LONDON, May IS. Sir Reginald Dorman-Smitli, who has been replaced as Minister of Agriculture by Mr R. S. Hudson, and who attended the Producers’ Conference- at Sydney some time back, is trying to rejoin his old regiment, the Queen’s Royal Regiment in which he holds the rank of major. When he gave up the seat of office this week he said: “I’ve done the best I could for the farmers and for increased food production. Now I intend to fight for the country in another way. “No groanings now. All I ask is that the new Government honours the pledges the former Government gave to the farmers. They are important. I hope the Government will try to understand the farmers, as I tried to.”
