(From Our Own Correspondent.) CARNARVON, June. 13. Mrs presided at the Women's Institute meeting. The emergency fund benefited by 10s. Correspondence was read from Mrs Hobbs, convener of tho group I meeting, to bo held in September, advis-l ing of competitions, one being a cake I suitable .for soldiers’ parcels. Mrs Collins, | federation secretary, forwarded particulars regarding refugee parcels and the minesweepers appeal. Visitors welcomed', were Miss Murray (Kimbolton) and Miss I Grooby (Takaro). Two new members were j also welcomed, Mcsdamcs Zajonskowski and j J. Scott. Airs Zajonskowski and:Miss Murray judged the bloom- competition, the j result being: Mrs Gibbons 1, Airs Fieldhouse -2 and 3. It was decided to send away, two soldiers’ parcels this month, Miss Clare offering to make the cakes to he enclosed in them. Afternoon tea was served by Mosdamcs Short and Warren and Miss Will, '.f’lie members were interested in the splendid response tr> the appeal for clothing for the refugees. 'Thanks to the generosity of members: and others, there was a very largo parcel sent to Palmerston North on Wednesday, also a number took articles homo to be put out; these are to bo made up at the next meeting. It was decided to hold a da!nco and card evening shortly to raise a donation for the Navy League efforts. Owing to the difficulty in securing wool at, present, members are doing wliat they are able privately in knitting articles for the soldiers. The programme for next month is: Knitted article (preferably for soldiers) ; best bloom; and .four date scones; hostesses, Mesdames Luxford, Maxwell and Thompson. I Mr and Mrs Luxford have been on holiday in Auckland. Mr and Mrs 11. Knight are visiting Mr and Mrs L. Knight, Mangorei Road, New Plymouth. Messrs. Hodge, Blare and Quinlan were recent visitors (o Rotorua and Auckland. Grosby, of Takaro, is visiting Mr and Miss Glare. Tho ping pong continues to be well attended and members are hoping to have a friendly match with Taikorca next week. -
