“MASSKERADE.”
The keenly-awaited and much discussed 1940 edition of “Masskerade,” the ’Varsity capping revue, will be staged at the Opera House next week, commencing on Tuesday, June 18, for a brief season of three nights. The programme again consists of ballets, choruses, burlesque and political satire. The keynote of the whole production is “action.” “The Merchant of Munich” (on which Shakespeare based his immortal .“Merchant of Venice”) opens the show. This international burlesque presents Hitler, Mussolini and Goebbels in not very flattering roles/ In “Esplanade Escapade” we come nearer home and domestic politics play a' large parf in this production. The final farce, “Rural Rhapsody,” reveals to an incredulous public the inner machinations of the Government’s “Increase Production” , programme. The show ifi rounded off with sketches, skits anti choruses. All profits will be donated to the Patriotic Fund. Box plans are at Collin-; son and Cunninghame's. There -are popular prices, with no extra charge for reservations. ' ~ j f
