GOOD RESPONSE
PUBLIC AND WINTER SHOW. PRESIDENT’S SATISFACTION. Particular satisfaction was expressed by the president of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association (Mr C. E. Vile), in an' interview with the “Manawatu Standard” to-day, with the patronage and general support given the Winter Show under the present conditions.
“The Show has gone very well indeed,” said Mr Vile, “and I appreciate very heartily the support given it by exhibitors and all others concerned. The effort of these people has been very good indeed, particularly in view of the news we have had from overseas this weel#. It has shown that the people have not been ‘panicky’ and have accepted the position in a very fine spirit. “No one expected that the gate takings would be the same as’ those for last year’s Winter Show, but an exceedingly gratifying feature has been the excellent response made by members in renewing their membership. The great effort they have made will help to compensate for the lower gate takings, which we all knew would be inevitable.” To-day was the final day of the Winter Show, tho main attraction being the annual meeting of the representative teams of the Manawatu and Wanganui Rugby Unions. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance at the match.
