J. R. MCKENZIE TRUST.
BOARD’S DECISIONS. WELLINGTON, June 15. The first 'meeting of the board of trustees set up to administer the trust of £IOO.OOO established by Mr J. It. McKenzie for charitable and educational purposes within the Dominion was held recently, and certain preliminary steps were taken for the effective constitution and administration of the trust. The following resolutions were adopted : “That the board iays down for the present guidance of its members and their, successors the principle of disbursing its funds principally through recognised institutions rather than in response to individual applications.” “That the Wellington members of the board be a sub-committee to make a preliminary survey of the held open to the objects of the trust and the various existing bodies and institutions that might be available to assist in its administration.” “That the board endeavour to avoid the position of being merely an organisation which duplicates or augments the funds and activities of existing organisations and that objects should be sought within the spirit of the trust but independent of provision made in other directions.” The board considered that in shaping its policy it must contemplate the certainty that the problems arising out of the war and its after effects will create a legitimate and urgent call on the resources of the trust. The funds of the trust are fully invested and the return from these will he available for distribution after March 31,
