EXTENSION IN PACIFIC. Received June 13, 8.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, June 12. The Civil Aeronautics Authority has granted Pan-American Airways a license for a route between San Francisco and Auckland, via Los Angeles, Honolulu, Canton Island, and Noumea. The air journey will occupy four and a-half days. Starting on the basis of one round trip fortnightly, it will include passengers, freight,- and mail. The service will start with the American Clipper, which is now being refitted at New York. The Aeronautics Authority stressed the importance of the aerial route to New Zealand and the commercial relations between the United States and New Zealand and Australia, also the standpoint of national defence. It is estimated that the cost of operating the line in the first year will be 1,773,000 dollars and the revenue 442,000 dollars, but it is expected that in the second year the revenue will exceed 500,000 dollars.
