DOCTOR SENTENCED.

INTOXICATION CHARGE. - Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 13. Sentence of seven days’ imprisonment was passed in the Magistrate’s Court on Neil Gordon McLean, a medical practitioner, of Kaikolie, for being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car on May 15. Five witnesses testified that defendant was under the influence of liquor. Defendant, in evidence, said that he suffered from the effects of shellshock and denied being intoxicated, stating that lie had'had only two drinks at the Wade Hotel after having driven the car from Auckland. He said lie was tired, and went to bed. He was awakened by a police sergeant, who put him through tests and called a doctor to examine him. The Magistrate (Mr F. M. Lcvien) said he was satisfied that defendant was at the time suffering from the effects of alcohol and the Court could not distinguish between him and any other person.
