AIR FORCE AND Y.M.C.A.
The work at the various Air Force bases presents a new phase for the Y.M.C.A. in New Zealand, and good work is being done, especially with the postal services. At each aerodrome where the Y.M.C.A. 'is established buffet suppers arc served every night, with an average attendance of over 200. Full use is made of the Y.M.C.A. recreational rooms, the ping pong and billiard tables being continually used, while, for others who desire quiet relaxation, the reading rooms offer ample opportunity with their electric fires and generous supplies of easy chairs and settees. The rooms are kept well supplied with literature, cards and writing material. The Post Office savings bank and money order departments, coming under the supervision of the Y.M.C.A., are a great boon to the men and are undoubtedly .one of the busiest aspects of the Y.M.C.A. work. Mans are sorted and delivered twice daily, while numerous telephone calls arc received and a large number of telegrams sent. social life revolves abound the Y.M.C.A. and the dances, concerts and pictures organised each week prove very popular with the men. Members from the_ Palmerston North Association who have joined the Air Force, have written expressing their keen appreciation of the services rendered by the Y.M.C.A.
