NAPIER REQUEST.

AIR BARNARD ASKED TO RESIGN Per Press Association. NAPIER, April 23. Approximately 20 supporters of Hon. YY. E. Barnard, M.P., left the meeting at the conclusion of an address by the national secretary (Mr M. Moohan) to members of the Napier branch of the Labour Party as the remit of a request. Later a resolution was endorsed that the national executive of the New Zealand Labour Party accepts the resignation from the party of Air Barnard and demands that he immediately resign his 6eat in Parliament as he no longer has the confidence of the party which was responsible for electing him to Parliament. A second resolution was carried to the effect that the Premier (Hon. P. Fraser) be congratulated on his election to the leadership and the display of confidence that under his leadership the cause of Labour will prosper.
