TROOPS PRAISED.

CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF. OBVIOUSLY FIT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 21. Satisfaction that the soldiers had made all the progress possible in the time at their disposal was expressed by the Chief of the General Staff (Major-General J. E. Duigan), on Saturday, after inspecting men of the Second Echelon in training at Papakura. “Y’ou are well turned out, steady in bearing and obviously fit,” said MajorGeneral Duigan, when addressing the troops. “Yon have done everything you could have done in the time you have had here, and I am sure you will be a credit to your division, and that when the test comes you will measure up to it and behave in the same magnificent manner as the Royal Navy and the Air Force. There is nothing more certain than that the ‘Second N.Z.E.F. will carry on and do its job in the same way as the First N.Z.E.F.”
