PLUNKET SOCIETY.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Plunket Society ,was held on Friday, Mrs G. C. Petersen presiding. Also present were Mesdames F. M. Garner, R. Edwards, W. G. Black and M. Aitchison (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames J. A. Nash, L. H. Colli neon, A. E. Mansford, T. J. Rodgers. K. F. Kirk, S. R. Thomson and V. Dick. The members stood i.u silence as a mark of respect to the late Rt. lion. M. J. Savage. Mrs Petersen reported that a request had been received from the Mayor to send two delegates to help with a recruiting campaign. This Had been referred to the men’s finance committee, the meeting endorsing the action. The Wanganui branch forwarded a report of the Stewart Karitane Home for four months. The appointment of Afiss D. Feist as one of the Plunket nurses in Palmerston North, to take effect on May 1. was notified from headquarters and confirmed. The secretary reported that Dr. Helen Deem (medical adviser) and Miss G. Fitzgibbon (nursing adviser) had visited the branch. It was decided to ask Miss B. Ogden or Miss J. Sampson (charge nurse! to speak at the annual meeting on the Plunket rooms at the Centennial Exhibition. The nurse’s report for March stated that 92 homes had been visited and 1467 visits received at the office (734 adults, 657 babies and 76 older children). There were 48 new cases and 46 registration letters had been posted. 14 letters being received and answered. A parcel of clothing a.nd a baby’s canvas cot had. been received from Airs Pelm. Four visits had been paid to Foxton, where 153 visits had been received at the office (77 adults. 04 babies and 12 older children). There had been one new ease. Sales for the month had totalled £7 12s 8d and membership fees £1 15s. Donations had been received from Alesdames J. S.vlva 10s. L. AlacPherson 9s Od, R. Al. Currie 10s. J. Spelman 4s 6d and through the collection box £1 9s 4d.
