WEDDINGS.

LUXMOORE—DRAKE. A wedding of interest to many took place at All Saints’ Church, 1 alnierstou North, on Saturday, March 23, 1940, when Mary Elizabeth, only daughter of Mr and Mrs T.-E. Drake, 1 Eeatherston Street, Palmerston North, was, married to Martin Walter, second son of Mr A. Luxmoore, and the late Mrs Luxmoore, of Bryant Street, Palmerston North. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. Parnell, vicar of Ashhurst, and Mr J. Holmes llunnicles presided at the organ. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, wearing a frock oi ivory taffeta, the bodice being trimmed with a Honiton lace collar, caught at the throat with a spray of orange blossom. The sleeves were puffed, and the skirt fully flared. She wore a picture hat, and carried a sheaf of Eastei lilies and maidenhair fern, and a Honiton lace handkerchief, the gift ol Mrs Trelease, a very old friend of her parents. A double row of pearls completed her toilette. Mrs Dudley Drake, sister-in-law ol the bride, attended as matron-of-hon-our. She wore a frock of leaf-green lace with white accessories, and carried a sheaf of pink gladioli and asparagus fern. , Air Jack Luxmoprc, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. _ The reception was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. C. Morgan, Pcatlierston Street, who kindly lent it for the occasion. The usual toasts were honoured, and many telegrams wore received, including one from Melbourne, and one from England. Visitors "ere present from Takapau, Levin, and Shannon. Mr and Mrs Luxmoore left later in the day for Wellington, the bride travelling in a frock of lime green a:> I "me crepe, with bat anti accessories to tone, and a foxalinc coatee, the gift of the bridegroom. A gift evening was previously given by the aunts .of the bridegroom, at which a most enjoyable time was spent and many useful gifts were received. MADEN—OLIVER. All Saints’ Church, Palmerston rsorth, was the scene of a very picturesque wedding on Saturday, March 30, when June Beverley, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs E. S. Oliver, union Street, Palmerston North, was united in the bonds of marriage to Leslie Trickctt, only son of the late Mr and Mrs A. Maden, Rongotea. Ihe officiating minister was Canon G. T- Woodward, and the organist was Mr J. Holmes Runnicles. The church had been beautifully decorated with j belladonna lilies and hydrangeas by j Mrs H. R. York, sister of the bride. ! The beautiful bridal veil (loaned! by her sister), which was worn over the face when entering the church.! was held in place by a coronet of. orange blossom (wlrch had beck worn by the bride’s mother on her wedding day) and fell in graceful folds to form a second train. She carried a bouquet of lilies, roses, cactus dahlias and! maidenhair fern. | The bride was attended by twoj bridesmaids. Miss Una Hoskins (chief) and Mi«s Dnlcie Buglass. attired alike in ice blue moire taffeta frocks designed with ruched bodices, fitting tight!v to the waist, and heart-shaned neck-lines being edged with silver leaves. Tile very full flared skirts were finished with cording at the hemline. Bolero jackets with ruched sleeves completed the ensemble. They carried bouquets of pink gladioli and maidenhair fern. Attending the bridegroom as best man and groomsman respectively were Mr J. Oliver (brother of the bride) and Mr K. Mullins. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a floral horseshoe .by Miss Hunt (niece of the bridegroom). A reception was afterwards held at the P.D.C. tearooms, where between seventy and eighty guests were entertained. The guests were received by the bride’s mother, who was attired in a grey tailored suit with navy accessories. Sho wore a shoulder spray of pink cactus dahlias. Assisting her was Airs A. Hunt (sister of the bridegroom) wearing a floral frock under a powder blue coat with toning accessories. She also wore a shoulder spray of pink cactus dahlias. The bride and bridegroom later left on a tour of the south. Mrs Maden looked very chic in a rust suit with black accessories and a fur necklet, | the gift of the bridegroom.
