EXTENSION PROPOSED.
BOYS’ COMMERCIAL TUITION. Objection to the overlapping of commercial work in schools under the control of the Palmerston .North High Schools Board of Governors was expressed by Mr W. R. Birnie at a meeting of the board last evening. A proposal to extend commercial work at the Boys’ High School was mentioned by the chairman (Mr M. H. Oram), who said that at present these classes at the school bad to work in ordinary desks and had six typeuritcis available. ... “Tt seems to me that wc should avoid duplicating this type of work,” said Mr Birnie. Commercial work was carried on at the Technical School, where there were splendid facilities. The subjects could be taken there. The rector of the Boys High School (Mr J. Murray) said there were 2o boys taking commercial work at the school, but more would take it if the facilities were developed. It was mentioned that there were 40 typewriters at the Technical School and 05 at the Girls’ High School 1 “It is not too late to start, said a member, and a sub-committcc of the board was appointed to coaler with Mr 1 Murray on the matter.
