EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” FEBRUARY 22, 1910. There were 1200 men undet canvas at Hagley Park, Christchurcii, for the military camp which Lord Kitchener was to visit. Lord Kitchener watched a mock battle at Halswell and expressed appreciation at the display. From London it was reported that Lord Cromer had paid a very high tribute to the Egyptian Premier (Butras Pasha) whose murder was reported. The Foxton Borough Council was to take a poll for -a loan of £2O 000 for a combined water supply and drainage system. Milk supplies to various dairy factories in the district included the following: Koputaroa creamery, 1400 gallons daily from 16 suppliers; AVellington Fresh Food and Ice Coy. (Koputaroa), 900 gallons, 30 suppliers; Levin Central, 100 gallons, 38 suppliers; New Zealand Farmers’ Dairy Union (Manakau branch), 600 gallons, 16 suppliers. The purchase by the Wellington City Council of a tar sprayer (to operate over a mile of roadway in eight days) was recorded as “a notable advance.” The Manawatu Golf Club had accepted a tender for £1.500 for the erection of a new club-house.
