CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS.
The most ambitious project in the nature of a massed school display will be the main feature of Saturday evening’s Centennial celebrations, when a choir of over 800 voices under the baton of Mr Budd will be heard for the first time in Palmerston North. There was a full rehearsal of this item yesterday, and parents and lovers of children’s voices arc assured that this item wil exceed the utmost expectations of the organisers cf this function. Folk dancing, physical drill and interhouse displays will add to the enjoyment. The Maori hakas by the Maori Battalion evoked the highest praise from all those who have been fortunate enough to see them at Peione and Waitangi. Mr J. Hopkins has earned a Dominion-wide reputation for the excellence of his fireworks, and Saturday’s display will surpass anything yet staged in the city. The programme is timed to commence at 7 p.m. sharp and will conclude at 9.30 p.m.
