AUSTRALIAN ENVOY.
TASK IN AMERICA. Received February 22, 10.45 a.m. WASHINGTON, Feb. 21. Mr R. G. Casey, the newly-appointed Australian Minister to the United States, landed in a snowstorm. Despite liis obvious tiredness, Mr Casey freely answered the newspapermen’s questions and briefly broadcast over the East Coast network. Mr Casey will probably present his credentials on March 1, until when lie will not be recognised as Minister and will be unable to make official cal's. He told the Associated Press: The tasK Au,tralia sent, me here to do will never be completed. It is a continuing. progressive task to establish a direct and friendly understanding and contact with the United States Government and people. He emphasised that Australia’s war economy and vastly increased industrialisation were enabling unexpectedly great aid to Britain in supplying munitions.
