ARABS PRAISE BRITONS.

SOLDIERS’ LINE CHARACTER. Received February 22, 8.5 a.m. BAGDAD, Feb. 21. The Arabic newspaper Sawtashshab says British troops wiiicli proceeded to Iraq yesterday, enabled the Iraquis to gain a good knowledge of the British race. Not only the British officers, but the private soldiers, revealed their true character. They respected the local population’s feelings and sentiments, never committing aggression against individuals and always safeguarding people’s honour and property. “We have not heard of an Englishman mocking or deriding Arabian customs and traditions, or wounding the feelings of anybody by word or deed,” adds the paper. “There is intense German propaganda in Arabia with the object of alienating the Arabs from their friend Britain, but it must have been undertaken by idiots.”
