(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Oct. 6. Fir L. Rawson, who has been on the staff of the Olaki Post Office for tho past 13 months, leaves on Saturday to take up a position at the Wellington blast office. Dr. and Mrs Percy Reddell, of Ivaiapoi, arc tho guests of Dr. Neate and Mr and Airs Neate, cf Otaki. No furthor progress in the endeavours to merge the Otaki and Rahui Football Clubs was made at a meeting of the I-lorowhcnua Rugby Union this week. The Otaki Club wrote agreeing to amalgamate provided its name was used, while Rahui pointed out that it had built up reserves and next season would bo able to field a strong team, for which reason it did not desire amalgamation under tho terms suggested. The union referred the matter back to the clubs, asking that they come to terms cf amalgamation before next season. Glorious weather prevailed for tho opening of the Otaki Croquet Club’s season, which took placo on Wednesday. The playing area was in fine ordor and many enjoyable games, with competitions, resulted.
