LAWN TENNIS CLUE. A history of the Pahiatua Lawn Tennis Club is to bo compiled this season to mark its jubilee year. The coining season promises to be a successful one, a number of new members having already enrolled and a number of others arc also joining. Although tho opening of the club’s courts does not take place until early next month, tho courts are in good order.

PERSONAL. Miss M. Moriarty, of Wakeman Street, is visiting Christchurch. Mr S. A. Matthews, of Whangarei, has returned after spending a holiday with his parents, Mr and Mrs P. J. Matthows. AIANGAMUTU TENNIS CLUB. The annual report of tho Mangamutu Tennis Club states that tho year was a successful one, there being a largo membership. Some very closo matches were seen in tho Lett Buttons competition. The championships woro won by tho following: Men, D. O’Brien; runner-up, W. Anscombe; ladies, Miss IC. O’Brien; runnerup, Miss N. Eta; junior men, S. Burgess; runner-up, W. Bailey; ladies, Mrs T. Burr; runner-up, Miss G. Isaakson. ’I ho cup presented for tho player who won tho most games in the in’tcr-club matches went to Miss K. O’Brien. DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. Tho annual cross-country race held by the Pahiatua District High School was runlast week. The race commenced from the school and finished at the Recreation Grounds. There was keen competition between the two houses, Ruahino (T. Levy, captain) and Tararua (S. captain), the forming winning by 11.8 points to 8. The first six in a largo field were:—S. | Beales 1, E.
