INFORMAL DANCE.
PALMERSTON NORTH GOLF CLUB. A happy time was spent at the Palmerston North Golf Club, on Saturday night, when an informal dance was held in the clubhouse. There was a large attendance. The dance was organised by the ladies’ committee, and Mr K. Dawkins was M.C. Supper was served in the ladies’ room by Mrs K. Fraser, Misses J. Rowntree, K. Landers and N. Stuart.
Here are a few hints about the less familiar aspects of washing and laundering : . Always see that silk gloves are washed at frequent intervals, because they will wear twice as long if carefully washed, in tepid water and creamy soap flakes, at short and regular interva s. Pink washable garments have the habit of fading and losing their colour with constant laundering. A few drops of ordinary red ink, or of cochineal, added to the final rinsing water will restore the colour wonderfully. . The juice of a lemon added to the final rinsing water is an effective aid to restoring the bleach to bed linen which has become a bad colour. Leave washing on line all through a sunny Washing day is the cause of many scaldings through negligence where there are children. Never . cave the wash-house unattended while the copper is alight. If the wash-house is left, close and lock the door as a safeguard.
