FIRE ENGINEERS CONFER.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. The annual conference of the New Zealand branch of the Institute.of Fire Engineers opened to-day. Air S. S. Dean, chairman of the Wellington Fire Board, welcomed the delegates and, addressing them, assured them that tho authorities recognised the value of tlicir institution. The educational value of its work could not be too highly praised, and it behoved all members, paritcularly of the permanent brigades, to use their best endeavours to qualify for membership.
