McPeak, of Troup Road, who has been an inmate of the Dnnncvirkc Hospital, returned homo during tlio week. The late Mrs M. C. M. Sorensen, of Mnngatainoka, who was aped 52 years, and the wile of Mr N. 0. Soronson, was a well-Known and niuoli respected resident of that district. The deceased lady was the mother of Mrs G-. C. Tsnkson, of Troup Road, AVoodvillo.

Messrs I. Pilcher and E. Squires are visiting Dunedin. A night in Woodville was included in the itinerary of a narty of American tourists. Mr Jas. ,T. Cruickshank. of Detroit (Michigan) and the M'sses P nth and Sara Licklv, who arrived in Auckland from the United States on Monday, and immediately sot out on what might he formed a whirlwind tour of the Dominion. as they embark in less than ten days’ time on their return to America. They have already done a great deal of sightseeing, and sought considerable information concerning this country. They appeared to he much interested in various phases of the dairying industry, especially that pertaining to the guaranteed price. The party loft by motor-car on Saturday for the South Island (via the Wairarapa route), where they will visit the chief centres, returning ■ to Auckland via the Manawatu and Taranaki districts. A visit to the General Assembly, in Wellington, was hoped for. in order to gain a closer insight into New Zealand’s political affairs.
