ONION BOYCOTT.
SUPPORT BY GROCERS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. July IS. “We pledge ourselves to endeavour to secure the support of all merchants to refuse to handle Japanese onions.” This was part of a resolution carried by the Auckland Master Grocers’ Association at a largely-attended mooting las£ night. Copies arc being sent fo the members of the association in the Auckland district, also produce merchants. The reason for the action, as stated in the resolution, is that “the _.Japanese tire subjecting the British, people to indignities beyond those which any mein her of tlie British Empire should he called upon.to suffer. It was recognised in the discussion that, in view of the stand already taken hy the Chinese fruiterers. the major portion of the onion shipment would have to bo disposed of through grocers’ shops, and that a stand taken hy the grocers would ho an effective harrier against the sale*, of a large quantity of the onions.
