WILLARD HOME.

The monthly meeting of the Willard Children’s Home Board was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs E. A. Collins presided, and also present were Mesdames E. C. Barnett, F. J. Nathan. J. B. Sankey, D. 'Watson. K. McDonald, D. J. Lovelock, C. F. Spooner. It. Port, A. C. Evans, E. B. Jennings (secretary) and Miss M. Cranston. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. R. Hodder, G. H. Bennett. J. A. McLeavey. E. A. Shaw and C. Greig. The members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mrs H. E. Pacey, who had been a prominent member of the board. The president reported that a letter of sympathy to the relatives, and a wreath, bad been sent.

The matron’s report stated that there had been three admissions during the month. An outbreak of chiekennox had necessitated the home’s being quarantined for the regulation period. The children had made complete recoveries and all were again attending school. On July G the home had been inspected by Miss Jenkins, child welfare officer. The secretary reported on the recommendations of the child welfare officer, and Mesdames Port and Evans reported on their visit to the home during the month. A number of applications for admission to the home were approved, and the reports and correspondence were received. The financial statement was received and accounts amounting to , f '47 17s 5d were passed for payment. The secretary reported that the eta 11 at the Winter Show had brought in £34 11s lid. A payment to the caretaker of St. Andrew’s schoolroom was authorised, and also an honorarium to M iss N. Bryce, the accountant. Miss Bryce’s resignation was accepted with regret and the secretary was asked to write a letter of appreciation of her services. The secretary’s honorarium was renewed and appreciation of her services expressed. Mrs Lovelock reported having arranged a jumble sale and appealed for donations of clothing.
