SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
MEMBERS’ NIGHT. On Saturday the P.D.C. tea rooms were gay with dancers and the colourful tartans of Highland costumes when the Manawatu Scottish Society held its third members’ night of the season. Visitors from kindred societies were present from Tauranga, Hunterville and Eketahuna. Guests were rcer:ved by the Chief and Mrs J. S. Jenkinson and the Chieftain and. Mrs W. Allen. Popular items were renderled by Mrs Sadd, who sang “Smilin’ Through” and “Misty Islands of the Highlands”; by Miss Yvonne Dalby, who danced the Sean Triuhhas and tho Highland fling, accompanied bv Piper Gordon Esau; by Mrs Bigliam who sang “A May Morning,” “Passing By” and “Annie Laurie” ; by Miss Barbara Kelly and Drum-Sergeant Hunter, who sang tho duets “The Crookit Bawbee” and “Huntingtower”; and by tho society’s Pipe Band, who played the request items “The Road to tho Isles,” “The Pibroch o’ Donald Dim” and “Tho Old Rustic Bridge.” Pipe-Sergeant Pilcher played Highland music for the extra dances. With Mr V. J. Rowland as M.C., old-time dancing was enjoyed until a late hour.
