BOWLING CLUB.
Tlio report to be presented by the president. (Mr \Y. J. llnwkes) to the annual meeting of the Bowling Club states that early in the season, which was a. very good one. nine clubs were represented on the green one Saturday afternoon. The club had gained the Kntwisle Shield by one point, and successfully defended it in March against Oroua. from whom it was wrested. The club was represented at tho Napier Centre match by one team, and also at the Wairarapa Centre match by two teams. The Pennant matches were held on the Dannevirke green, when teams from Woodville were successful in winning the senior, and the Pahiatua Club securing the junior. By winning the senior pennant, Woodville was required to try conclusions for the centre pennant against the winners of the pennant of Palmerston North clubs, but were unsuccessful. A team comprising Messrs J. J. Young, C. Forbes, C. Smith and 11. IP. Horne were successful in a trip to Foxton in lifting the Dixon Cup and held it against challengers from Oroua, Takaro. Foxton and Dannevirke, but Terrace End lifted it. The Gosling Stars were lost in the early part of tho season and though several challenges were played, the club was unsuccessful in regaining them. A good deal of interest was displayed in the competition for the Allen Buttons, the present holders being Messrs Hammond, Stevenson, Eoveli and Batchelor. The Byrne Cup was lifted from F.ketahunn by a team comprising Messrs C. Forbes, P. Cotter, J. J. Young and 11. P. Horne. A local firm presented four badges for rink competition, and although late in the season a few games were played, the holders being Messrs C. Hares, j. fi packman. J. Grinlinton and S SmiF . In the club competition games, IF. P. Horne and .1. Grinlinton won the champion pairs match. 11. 11. Morgan and L. McKinlay being runners-up: O. Forbes won the singles championship, with 11. P. Horne runner-up; the' Bolton Cup was won by J. Rpackman, with A. K. Boyd runner-up. The Junior Cup by J. Spackman. with G. McCullough runner-up. The championship for the first and second year players was won by P. Anslow. J. (Hutchinson being second. Thanks were due to the Green Committee, and other voluntary helpers, who maintained the green in such excellent condition throughout tho year; tlie ladies (for dispensing afternoon fens); the Match Committee, secretary (Mill. GlTwood), tho treasurer (Mr W. Galbraith). auditor (Air 1). Keuy), general committee. Air P. Colter for his assistance, and the Press. The scheme for additions and extensions to tho pavilion is also brought, under notice of members. The balance-sheet- discloses a credit of £97 15s 4d.
