SHIP WRECKED

One man was drowned and eight others narrowly escaped death when the small steamer Atlantic was wrecked last night on .Flinders Reef, eight miles northcast of Cape Moreton. The man who was drowned was hurled overboard when the vessel, which was formerly used as a minesweeper, struck the reef. The crew set fire to the wheel house and kept the fire going with their clothing to attract other boats in the vicinity.

A fishing-boat rescued eight of the crew.
