“1 have come to Palmerston North to declare the Winter Show officially open, and 1 regard that, as a very great honour,” said Sir Harry Batterboo. High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand, at the civic reception accorded him today. “On my mother’s side I come from a line of farmers. My forbears bred Romney Marsh sheep lor 300 years. T thought that you had Romney Alarsh sheep hero in New Zealand, hut I find that they arc Romneys.” (Laughter.)
