Mr Max Beerbohm has been created a Knight Bachelor; Mr Edward W'ilsha'v, managing director of Cables and Wireless, Ltd., a K.C.M.G. ; Air Philip Edward Haldin, Mr Thomas Drummond Shiels, and Air L'rancis Carnegie, Chief Superintendent of Ordnance Factories at the War Office, Knights Bachelor. New linrons arc Sir Arthur tie Cape 11 Brooke, Sir Herbert Cay/.er. and Captain Herbert Dixon, whose elevation to the peerage will necessitate by-elections in Portsmouth South and East Belfast respectively; Sir Henry Lyons and Sir Frederick Alarquis. Bv appointment or promotion C.BBC's include Air A. H. King (British Consul at Lisbon) and Air 0. F. N. Tliavenot (Judicial Adviser to the Siamese Alinistry of Justice). Air E. R.
