JOHNSONVILLE SALE. A smaller yarding; of cattle than usual was offered by Wright, Stephenson _ and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., at the Johnsonville livestock sale. Tho bullocks comprised chiefly heavyweight cattle, with a fcr> pens of light prime quality bullocks. Heavyweight bullocks met. with good competition, with prices showing no alteration, and mediumweight were easier by 5s lo 10s a heath No prime heavyweight cows came forward, the yarding comprising chiefly prime med-ium-weight cows. All classes rnot with a ready sale, with prices slightly easier than those ruling last week. Extra good-quality runners were offered, these meeting with good competition, prices firming on last week’s rates. A large yarding of sheep came forward. There was a keen demand from the local trade for fat sheep at the Addington sale to-day and all classes except light wethers improved by 2s to 3s a head. Laconer pigs also showed an advance. The store sheep yarding of about 1000 head comprised mainly old and rough ewes, which were unwanted, and the hulk of 'those were passed. There was a good demand for young wethers, a line ol twotootlis making 13s 6d, and another pen 10s 9d. In the fat lamb section lighter lambs barely held schedule prices, hut belter-class sorts met with a. spirited sale at rates slightly better than last week's. Tho fat sheep market was the bright spot in the sale. Iho penning numbered about 4000, compared with 4500 last week, and it was a. keen sale from the cutset. A firm tone was maintained throughout, particularly for ewes. Light owes, which had bcc.u selling at os to 10s, made in a. number of instances to-day about 12s to 13s 6d, and many pens of wethers made in excess of 265. Extra prime heavy wethers sold to 28s IOd; prime heavy, 24s 6d to 26s 6d ; prime medium, 22s to 245; light, to 16s 6d ; extra prime heavy ewes, to 24s 7d; prime heavy, 20s 6d to 225; prime medium, 15s 6d to 19s; light, to 12s. 6d. The fat cattle entry of 515 again constituted an over-supply and the market showed little change on that of last week.' Average class good beef maintained values, with a few slightly better sales of primer quality. Aged cows, though showing little change in values, sold a. little more freely. The yarding of porkers was the smallest for some time, ami good quality was keenly sought, but there was little change on the prices of last week. Bacone-re were forward in smaller numbers and tho sale was keen with values 3s to 4s better than a week ago. A medium supply of choppers met with a better sale than hist week. Porkers made 30s to 54s 6d (average price a lb. 6fd to 6^d); baconcrs, £2 19s 6d lo I £5 8s 6d (average price a lh. 6jd to 7d). AT STORTFORD LODGE. HASTINGS. June 7. In the fat rattle market to-day at Storiford Lodge little change was revealed. The light yarding included a very limited supply; of quality beef. In spite of the short yard-; ing, there was no change in values fori Aberdeen Angus animals. Extra prime finished heifers went to £lO 14s, hut tho ; majority changed hands at £5 12s 6d ioi £6 15s for beasts carrying medium finish. Little, interest was taken in a poor cmrv of store cattle.
