MEETING OF COUNCIL. APPLICATIONS APPROVED. Meeting in Palmerston North yesterday, the No. 9 District Highways Council' decided to forward county councils’ applications for additional main highways to tlie Main Highways Board Jor consideration. A review of highways in the district was given and the policy of the Public Works Department for the immediate future was also outlined. The chair was occupied by Air H. Watkinson (district engineer of the Public Works Department) and there were also present Crs. H. Viekcrman (Hutt County Council), G. A. Monk (Morowhcnua County Council), AY. R. Ilopcroft (Kairanga County Council), L. T. McLean (Kiwitea County Council), 8. J. Stralian (Poliaiigina County I Council), AY. E. Barber (Manawatu County Council), A. Campbell (Oroua County Council) and H. Bickford (Ma- ! kara County Council). Messrs Monk and Bather, with the chairman, were appointed an executive. Applications for additional main highways were received as follow: Kairanga County. Palmerston North Bunnytiiorpe (Railway Road), 3 miles 30 chains. Morowhenua County.—Otaki Gorge Rond, 2 miles 50 chains. The County Council is prepared to revoke in exchange for this declaration a length nt 3 miles 20 chains of the existing 'le Horo-AA’aihoanga main highway. Toko-mnru-Opiki. 3 miles 50 chains; Mnke-rua-Opiki, 5 miles 75 chains; To Horo Beach, 2 miles 20 chains.
