DISTRICT NURSING.
PROVISION FOR SERVICE. “District nursing activities have been well maintained during the past year and all flic nurses have been kept busy; at times during winter months some of the nurses had more work than they could cope with,” it was reported to the meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, yesterday, when a.n estimate of £3300 was adopted to cover the cost of the service this year. “The Levin district nurse, who is one of the busiest nurses we etnplov, has covered a great deal of ground during the past year and T propose that the relieving nurse should snend any time available this winter in Levin assisting the Levin nurse as neopssarv,” added the managing-secretary (Air A. J. Phillipph
“The work of the district nurses will he further increased on the introduction of the social security scheme, as we will be faced with demands for in pat'ent treatment, which we know defi nitely we will not he able to meet, and it is pronosod to use the district nursing service to the full extent possiU to relieve the in-patient accommoda tion.”
