BUYING WATER.
FARAIERS’ EXPERIENCE.
A Colyton dairy farmer showed an “Evening Standard” representative in Feilding a unique account, this morning, the debt being for water supplied by a local body for use on his farm. It was stated that the local body had supplied thousands of gallons of water to farmers in the Colyton and other districts during the past several months on account of the drought, and the soriice had been widely appreciated. It is believed that this year is the first in the history of the district in which water has had to he bought, and probably it is unique in the history of the Oroua County that revenue has been derived from that source, although it is noted that at the price charged for the service very little profit, if any, will be derived.
