BRILLIANT PLAY.
A. GUY’S FINE ROUND. GISBORNE. April 15. Bri'liant golf was played l>v the Poverty Bay Club’s professional, A. Guy, at the Awapuni links, when he returned the remarkab'e score of 65 in a round with R. I. Harrison. The Awapuni links are very dry, and accurate driving and approach shots are of vital importance if low scores are to lie returned, as the greens are difficult for putting. Guy was out in 33. opening his round with a birdie at the first hole and securing a second at tho sixth. The scratch score for the outward journey is 35, Guy finishing two below tin’s.
Turning for home. Guy opened with another birdie at the tenth and then secured three in a row at the th’rteenth. fourteenth mid fifteenth holes. His card for the return trip was 32. four below the scratch score, and his total card was 65. against the scratch score of 71 for the course.
