BLUEGUM TREES
(To the Editor.)
Sir, — T note according to a report appearing in the “Standard" on Friday that Air Fraser (Bowen Street) complained to the Borough Council of the nuisance created by bluegum trees growing near his property. Cr. A. Olsson expressed himself as being opposed to the removal ot the trees. I would like to support Air Fraser, and if Cr. Olsson resided in the same locality he might change his opinion. The latter stated that visitors had admired the avenue ot trees. I would like to know who they were. If the so-called visitors took a stroll to the locality on a windy day they would not, I think, lie impressed. The ratepayers have to he studied not only from an avenue point of view hut from the taxpayers’ point of view. If Cr. Olsson were to dig six inches deep on my property. 100 yards from the so-called avenue, he would locate bluegum roots. How would Cr. Olsson like this on bis property? T am quite sure Air Fraser has had his hay spoilt, because of the falling leaves and twigs. T am quite in sympathy with Air Fraser, and I trust the reserves committee will take definite and .prompt action to have the nuisance abated. —I am. etc., A. K. BOYD. AVoodville, April 15.
