BUILDING ACTIVITY.

FEWER PRIVATE JOBS. Information relative to building activity by private enterprise in Feilding reveals that most homes have been erected in the months of August, September and January. It is interesting to note that during the past eleven months a total of 16 new dwellings have been built in Feilding, valued at £16,813, while alterations to existing buildings and business premises cost £2677. No new business premises were erected during the period

April, 19,38, to February, 1939, inclusive. The value of work represented by permits issued by the Borough Council was £19,490. Compared with tho corresponding months in the year previous, the figures show a substantial drop. From April, 1937, to February, 1938, inclusive, 26 dwellings were erected, valued at £21,960; alterations to houses and business premises amounted to £12,909; and the total value represented by permits was £34,869, a difference of £15,379.
