KOSY THEATRE. "THE GIRL FROM SCOTLAND YARD.” p The story presents Karen Morlcy in the title role as an agent who uses her beauty and wit to trap the inventor of a death ray who threatens to destroy England's air force with liis invention. Since the ray id operated at a distance and is invisible, it is not an easy job that confronts her. The picture is now at the Kosy Theatre. Miss Morlcy is assisted in tracking down the inventor by Robert Baldwin, an American newspaper man who gets involved in the intrigue when he falls in love with the beautiful secret agent. He and Miss Morlcy succeed in trapping the inventor, but not before the latter wrecks several bombing ’planes in a thrilling aerial battle high over Ixmdon. Baldwin is a newcomer to films. He appeared in only one picture before, “Mind Your Own Business,” in which he played “J coper,** the wide guy newspaper columnist. Another newcomer in “The Girl .From Scotland Yard” is Milli Motni. the beautiful Italian songstress, who makes her American film debut in this picture. Miss Monti sings “We Haven't a Moment to Lose,” latest hit tune by Arthur Johnston and John Burke, the team that wrote “Pennies From Heaven.” “MOUNTAIN MUSIC” Bob Burns and Martha Rave are costarred again in Paramount’s “Mountain Music,” a satire of life among the hillbillies, which is now showing at the Kosy Theatre. In order to stop a feud between their families. Burns is supposed to marry Terry Walker. But he gets hit on the head, forgets about the wedding, and winds up with Miss Kaye.

METEOR THEATRE. “SECOND BEST BED.*’ Tom Walls appears in “Second Best Bed,” now showing at the Meteor Theatre. A riotous comedy by Bon Travers, the picture presents Tom Walls as a modern shrew-tamer, with Jane Baxter as the attractive but spoilt and selfish girl whose will has never been crossed. After she has been swept to the altar by Tom Walls, his dominating character infuriates her. Although he is deeply devoted to his young wife. Tom Walls refuses to tolerate her foolish behaviour, while she on the other hand resents his protective attitude towards a young girl whose safety is endangered as a i <ult of a suit filed against the local football hero. Matters reach breaking point when Jane Baxter dashes off to Monte Carlo in a jealous rage, and the husband, his patience at an end, is forced to resort to a strategic campaign in order to win back her affection, and at the same time cure her distrust and disobedience. Veronica Rosfc plays the part of the village girl responsible for bringing the couple together, arid Greta Gynt, Edward Levy, Carl Jaffe, Martila I funt and Charlotte Seigh arc featured in the supporting cast. The Meteor featurettes include “North of Sahara,” adventure travel talk of the desert; “Granton Trawler,” a sea epic of interest, and then the popular latest news service.
