MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Cour+, at Palmerston North, yesterday afternoon, two seamen, Alfred John Hills, aged 17, and Leslie Bolls, aged 19 years, who were arrested at Palmerston North, were charged with having, on February 29, deserted from the ship Tongariro while it was berthed at Wellington. They were convicted and placed on probation for 12 months, each being ordered to pay costs amounting to £] I3s. Senior-Sergeant J. Mclntyre represented the police.
