GENERAL DULLNESS. WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE. Business continued dull on a depressed market on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday. Trading was inactive and the turnover small. There was a steady demand for Government stocks, several small parcels of which changed hands at unchanged rates. Bank shares were quiet and little changed. Commercial of Australia sold Id up at 16s 1-Jd, and New Zealand went unchanged at 38s 6d. Buyers of Commercial of Sydney came back 10s to £2O ss, without support. E.S. and A. were wanted at £5, sellers asking 5s higher. Financial and pastoral issues lacked interest. Gas shares were unwanted. Holders of Auckland were prepared to quit at 17s, and were offering the 15s paid at 11s 3d. Wellington ordinaries were available at 30s 6d, ar.d the preference at 23s 6d. Insurance shares were neglected, tiie only offer being 43s (xl for South British, which were done in Auckland at 44s 3d. New Zealand Refrigerating were weaker, the 10s paid selling at the low level of 6s Bd, while the fully-paid were offering at 15s 6d. Buyers went up to 8s 3d for Wellington Meat Exports. There was very little doing in other New Zealand industrial issues. New Zealand Breweries sold _ unchanged at 3Ss, buyers staying in at a penny less. Leading Australian shares were quiet, quotations showing a good premium on Melbourne and Sydney prices. Woolworths, Ltd., were done at 22s 9d, more being wanted at that price.
