LATE MRS M. PALMER.

A LIFE OF SERVICE. The late Mrs Margaret Palmer, whose death occurred yesterday, had been closely identified with a large number of movements having as their object the welfare of the community. One of the institutions with which the late Mrs Palmer was closely connected was the Palmerston North Boys’ High School. Aire Palmer rendered very fine service to all the activities of the school, and on the formation of the Parents’ Association was a foundation member, and continued a member of the executive until her passing. On the gala day last Thursday, Mrs Palmer sent a special message wishing the boys success in their jOlfort. Feeling reference to the very fine service given to the school by the I late Mrs I’aimer was made at prayers by the acting rector, and sympathy to tho relatives was expressed by the ischool standing in silence. The prefects represented the school at the funeral. A foundation member of All Saints’ [Children’s Home, Airs Palmer had also given splendid service to tho ATatiaw.atu Women’s Club, Women’s National Reserve, Plunket Society. High School Parents’ Association, Board of the V.W.C.A., Business Girls’ Club and Townswomen’s Guild, as well as All Saints’ Ladies’ Guild. The award of a King George V Jubilee Aledal was a fitting reward for her service to the city. Prior to the commencement of business at a. meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Rugbv t’liion, last evening, the chairman (Air A. M. Ongley) made reference to the death of Mrs Palmer who, be said, bad been a splendid social worker and had taken :x keen interest in the activities of sports bodies. iShe was the mother of ATr B. Palmer (a member of the union) and Air H. Palmer (an enthusiastic supporter of the game), and a motion of sympathy with these gentlemen was carried in silence.
