ST. PAUL’S GUILD.
ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the St. Paul’s Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held recently, ltev. M. A. McDowell presiding over a large attendance. A number of apologies for absence were received. A talk by Miss If. Jones, the newlyappointed secretary of tlie Young Women’s Christian Association, created considerable interest. Following afternoon tea, served by Mesdames McClellan and East, financial statements covering the efforts made during the year were presented by Mrs H. Whitehead and Mrs A. Tregurtlia. General satisiVct.ion was expressed that the guild had been able to assist the Church so very tangibly. It was revealed that the guild, in its various functions, had raised a considerable amount of money and in other ways supported movements for the welfare of the Church. The officers elected for the ensuing year are: —President, Mrs W. B. Cameron (re-elected); vice-presidents, Alesdames C. Eaton, A. Ashcroft and C. East; secretary, Mrs E. C. Barnett (re-elected); correspondent and guild reporter. Mrs J- H. Hancock: treasurers, Mesdames A. Tregurtlia and Green; organist. Mrs IT. Whitehead; tea convener, Mrs T. Hastings; visiting convener, Airs McClellan; care of linen, Airs G. H. Bycroft; crockery, Mesdames Dixon and Hubbard; auditor, Mr 0. Bettany. All the retiring officers were thanked for their services, special reference being made to the work performed by Mrs W. B. Cameron (president), and Airs E. C. Barnett (secretary). Genera] regret was expressed that Airs H. Whitehead, who for many years had acted as treasurer to the guild, had to relinquish this office. She was thanked for much painstaking work. Afrs Whitehead will continue active asso-1 ciation with the guild. Speaking as president and on behalf of the guild, ATrs Cameron made reference to the imnending departure of Air and Airs AtcDowoll from the circuit. Airs Cameron said the guild greatly appreciated the solid work which both had performed in the interests of the guild and the Church. They were all going to miss them greatly, and it was the guild’s desire that they would both be very happy in the fresh field of labour to which they were going. Returning thanks, both Air and Afrs AfcDowell said they had enjoyed their sojourn at Palmerston North. “Tt had been a pleasure to serve,” said Airs McDowell, “we are only sorry we could not do more.”
