Mrs H. L. Ilartog, of Linton Street, is visiting Rotorua. Mr and Mrs Allan Bayliss, of Grey Street, are visiting Wellington. Misses Nell and Nola Sweeny, of Palmerston North, leave to-morrow to spend a holiday in Australia. Miss Ruth Woodsmall, world secretary of the Y.W.C.A., will leave Auckland this week for Australia. She will spend five weeks there before returning to Geneva. Mrs J. R. Hughes, of Palmerston North, accompanied by her .daughter, Miss Doreen Hughes, leaves to-morrow to spend a month’s holiday in Australia. Miss Dorothy Davies, the wellknown New Zealand pianist who has returned home after spending several years studying in Europe, is staying with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs J. L. Davies, of Rainforth Street. Misses D. Kelly and R. Wheeler, Messrs W. Gibbons, J. Rutherford, H. Matthews, T. Paget, I. Louisson (Wellington) and K. Billing (Marton), who have been staying with Mrs C. Louisson, of North Street, have returned home. Miss Joan Gaisford and Mr Peter Gaisford entertained a number of guests before the dance given by Mrs C. Louisson on Saturday night at “Craiglockhart,” Fit/.herbert. Mrs J. Gaisford received the guests, wearing black taffeta with a black and gold coatee, and Miss Gaisford was in lettuce green chiffon. Many people will learn with regret of the death of Mrs Constance Margaret Smith, who was formerly Mrs Martin, widow of the late Dr. A. A. Martin, of Palmerston North. She passed away in Christchurch on Friday last after an illness of some months. Mrs Smith is survived by her husband, Colonel G. J. Smith, and her mother, Mrs Somerville Brown, of Christchurch. Mr L. H. Collinson, president of tlie Manawatu Racing Club, and Mrs Collinson entertained a number of visitors at luncheon at the races on Saturday, including Dr Adah PlattsNJills, of Foxton, who wore brown and beige silk, with a brown hat, Mr E. W. Mills (Foxton); the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs A. E. Mansford, the latter wearing a black tailored frock, black felt toque and furs. Mrs Collinson was smartly attired in a frock of violet wool georgette, a black hat with matching flowers and stone marten furs.
