HANOVER IMPROVES.
SUCCESS IN HURDLES. CHANGE OF TACTICS. Hanover, who made the pace on the first day, was kept in behind until the home turn to-day, and these tactics proved successful, as he went on to score a comfortable win in the Kairariga Hurdles Handicap, his third in his last five starts. But for nearly coming down at the second to last fence when moving up fast, Sunee. however, would again have been the winner. Last to reach the final fence, he beat all but Hanover in the run to the post. Red Rufus and Strolling set out to make the pace, but the former was getting into his fences repeatedly and making up the ground on the flat. This proved to be the undoing of the Gainscourt gelding. Strolling, who was jumping well, attended Hanover to the last fence, but weakened over the final stretch and eventually finished fourth. Southern Blood going on to be third, three-quarters of a length behind Sunee.
