GIRL GUIDES.
COMPANY ACTIVITIES. The Takaro Company of Girl Guides held their swimming sports at t he Central School swimming baths on Friday (results have already been published), and on Saturday the lieu Guides who had just come up from Brownies had their first hike to the bridge which is being eercted for the railway deviation. Swimming was on joyed and sausages cooked in bannm skins successfully. Tracking aroused keen interest and it is hojxid to ban further hikes while the line weathei lasts. The Palmerston North Rangers an progressing well with pewter work and have reached the stage of pa ini ing their articles and attaching ill pewter to he painted. Plans have been made for the Easier camp, and the proposed silo will lie inspected (hi-week-end. AA’ork for outdoor badges will be done in camp. Last Tuesday two more Brownies were welcomed lo All Saints' Gnat Company, Phyllis Peterson and Betty Hihhell now being members of the company in the Tui and Clematis Patrols. Fifteen Guides enjoyed a hike through the hush, with tracking games. Outdoor work was made more interesting this week by a wool trail, the Pod Kowhais being the finders of the most pieces, returning ,'l2 out of 40. Olga Shaw has now completed her second class. St. Paul’s Company are busy working for second class, and competition is keen. On AA’eijfesday tracking .signs were very much in evidence around the church. A hike was held and fire-light-ing tests were held. A church parade will bo held at St. Paul’s, it being Rev. M. A. AI(-Dowell's last service with the Scouts and Guides before lie. leaves for the South Island.
