CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
SLAUGHTERMAN REMANDED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 22. Raymond George McKenzie, aged 34, a slaughterman, appeared before Mr Orr Walker, S.M., in the Police Court today, and was charged with assault so as to cause actual bodilyharm. Detective-Sergeant Walsh, asking for a remand until March 30, said it was alleged that a young married woman was struck on the head with a bottle and otherwise was badly ill-treated. Accused had not been in any trouble before, but if bail was asked for ho would suggest it be substantial. Counsel applied for bail and tbe Magistrate granted tlio remand, fixing I bail at Ll5O.
