REICH RAILWAYS.
REBUILDING PROGRAMME. BERLIN, March 7. An extensive programme to build railway rolling stock to equip the railways for every eventuality, lias been announced. A writer in tbe Frankfurter Zcitung, however, voicing the widespread dissatisfaction with tbe railways, expresses doubt whether track builders could deliver within a reasonable time, because manufacturers are being kept drastically short of iron and wood. A transport report reveals that there are 80,000 fewer carriages and 4000 fewer locomotives than in 1929, although the. traffic has increased. Passenger services have been reduced and trains are overcrowded. Most of the rolling stock is obsolete and large stretches of the permanent way are in need of replacement.
