TWO MILLION MEN
FOR FRENCH DEFENCE. BIG INCREASE PLANNED. MORE NATIVE TROOPS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received March 22, 1.5 p.m. PARIS, March 21. The permanent establishment of the French Regular Army will be increased from 701),bdU to 1,000,000. Specialists and technicians will be called up to man frontier defences and war material factories, and a thousand new war ’plane pilots and 750 machine-gunners will be enlisted at special rates of pay. When plans for large-scale recruitment of native troops is completed, France will have 2 j 000,00b trained men ready for instant action and 4,000,000 in reserve.
