GIRL CITIZENS.
OPEN NIGHT DISPLAY. A most interesting programme was presented by the Girl Citizens in the Y.W.C.A., last evening, when an open night was held, members giving an interpretation of their wide and varied activities. Aliss Jean Campbell, National Girls’ Work Secretary, organised the evening, being assisted by Aliss Barbara Smart, who is in charge of tile Palmerston North Girl Citizens, and Josephine Judd (Chief f'iti-c f was in the chair. About 50 girls were present, 25 of these being new members. The programme opened with “get acquainted” games, and the review was organised in groups portraying swimming, hull room and folk dancing, camping, drama., tennis, baseball, hiking, tlie mother and daughter banquet, arts and crafts, and physical culture, emphasising that almost any hobby of interest to girls hold a place in tlie programmes. The various groups were suitably costumed, and each displayed its activities to the accompaniment of interpretative music supolied b,v tlie others in the background. Afiss Daphne Eggers gave tlie prologue and directed the display, Afvra Forrest was the commentator, and L. "Wilson. J. Yelverton and J. Alarming the loaders. A dramatic skit on camp life was dire, tori by Aliss Ruth Lees, those taking part being J. Judd. J. Gilberd, A. Nash, P. Anderson, AT. Forrest. AI. Roily, and AT. Watts. This ended with a camp fire scene and vespers as a finale. The community gathering, in which new members are recognised, was ail interesting ceremony. Throughout the programme songs were interspersed bv Bet-tv Smith Afi s.s AI. .Tones, general secretary of the Palmerston North A’.AV.f.A., gave an interesting talk on Afiss Bulb AVofylsmall (world secretary), describing highlights from her career in the East. Aliss Jones also announced that an Faster camp would u c hold at Foxton and asked those wishing to go to register early. A lianpv evening concluded with refreslimmls and singing led hv Aliss Campbell.
