Fate of Memel
Transfer to Germany Lithuania Agrees (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Extraordinary.) Received March 22, 2.15 p.m. KAUNAS, March 22. The Government of Lithuania has agreed to accept the demand of the German Government for the transfer of the territory of Memel to the Third Reich. It is stated that Germany has offered port facilities to Memel and to guarantee the GermanLithuanian frontier. Jews and Lithuanians are leaving Memel in a panic. An earlier Berlin report denied the German ultimatum to Lithuania. It is understood that German troops will march triumphantly into Memel when the occupation occurs.
