MR J. K. HORNBLOW.
UN VEILING OK PHOTOGRAPH. A further tribute to tlie laie Air J. Iv. Hornblow (former chairman ol the board) was paid at a meeting ol the Palmerston North Hospital Board, yesterday, when a handsome framed photograph of the deceased gentleman, which had been presented by the Hornblow family, was unveiled. The short hut touching ceremony was performed by the chairman (Air J. A. Nash), and Airs Hornblow and members of the family were present. Air Nash said that members mourned the loss of a very able and enthusiastic chairman. He had served tlie. Hospital for 25 years, during which time lie had been chariinnii for eight years. The late Mr Hornblow, the chairman added, was a great social worker and a line public-spirited man. Besides his association with the Palinerson North Hospital he had been a member of the executive of the Hospital Boards’ Association, of the AA'anganui Education Board, the Horowhenua Power Board, the Eoxtou Chamber of Commerce, the Eoxtou Eire Board, and the Eoxtou School Committee. He was, in addition, a Justice of the Peace and an elder of the Foxtail Presbyterian Church. He was never tired of serving his fellow men ns was evidenced by his record, and he took a special pleasure in assisting those afticted. Mr Hornblow’s uprightness of character had endeared him to all who knew him, and by the hoard members and tlie staff at tlie Hospital lie was bold in the highest esteem. He had been called to higher service, but his work was a monument to liis memory, Air Nash concluded. Members then stood while tho photograph was unveiled.
